Come and join us for our first visit to Neatishead Radar Museum which promises to be a very atmospheric and spooky evening. Built in 1941 the airfields housed many aircraft and crew and in 1942 saw the introduction of a radar building. The first radars used on this site were mobile but they eventually gave way to the more advanced static type which played a big part in spotting Nazi aircraft making their way to our shores. After World War II the radars were kept in use as the threat of the cold war with the Soviet Union loomed. In 1957 the UK government decided to opt for nuclear weapons therefore an air defence unit at this site was no longer required but the radars were kept in use to seek out any Soviet nuclear weapons making their way towards us. During World War 2 more than 1,800 airmen from 94th squadron were either missing, injured, captured or killed, some of whom died in the fields adjacent to the base. With this in mind, it is understandable why Rougham Control Tower is haunted. Related post. Buy Tickets More information

19/11/22 Dereham, Norfolk Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse UK
Time: 7:30pm. Admission: £55.00. Age restrictions: No Minors. Box office: 07724 408558. Address: Fakenham Road. Venue phone: 01603 493625. Fright Nights Norfolk will be ghost hunting at the notoriously haunted ‘Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse’ located in Dereham, Norfolk. It was first opened during the summer of 1777, with the intention of starting a ‘house of industry’ for the poor. Men were employed to cultivate the farm, and women would have spun worsted and hemp, under the watchful eyes of Master James W Moore and Matron Margaret Moore, James’ wife. As well as being a museum that documents the history of Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, it’s also said to be the home of a restless spirit or two.. At night, noises are often heard throughout the premises. In particular, eerie sounds are known to emanate from the ‘punishment cell’, where a young girl with a troubled past named Harriet Kettle spent a lot of her time. Locked in solitude inside a pitch black, cold and damp room with no food! It would seem a reasonable explanation that she still haunts the area, and wants to make her presence known! So this leads to the question… Are you brave enough to join Fright Nights on a ghost hunt at Gressenhall Workhouse?! Related post. Buy Tickets More information
