Science fiction and fantasy novels, films and tv shows often portray alternate realities or a parallel universe as their theme.
Whilst this is considered by science as an unlikely theory, the fact remains that different realities residing alongside our own has neither been proved or disproved. A separate reality that may coexist alongside our own, or a parallel universe that has no relationship with ours has been part of our cultures for centuries in religion, myths and legends.
