The bunker was initially built in 1952 as an air defence station, but was never used for purpose, and maintained during the cold war as a potential government headquarters. The bunker was decommissioned in 1992, and up until this time it had been fully manned… now no longer a secret, as it was opened to the public as a museum showcasing its cold war history.
