Precognition is the ability to foresee future events that cannot be determined by presently available information. A Premonition is an advanced view of the future, sometimes a warning or circumstance which may appear in various forms, in dreams or as a feeling or unexplained ‘knowing’ that an event will occur before it happens.
Also referred to as second sight or future sight, the most common form of premonition often appear in dreams, usually of a friend or relative who pass away suddenly or as a warning of a catastrophic event that could not have been predicted by normal means. Records show that premonitions of future events have occurred throughout history, experienced by exalted and everyday people, including President Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Winston Churchill and Mark Twain to name a few.
